Defiance

Beautiful.  A work of cinematic art. Truly, and deeply touching.  To be prosecuted for something over which you have no control.  To have your family, your friends, all die before you.  To be hunted.  And hunted. With no mercy.

It's incredible how easy it is to forget and how easy it is to isolate oneself from the atrocities of the world. We are so accustomed to hearing about bombings in Gaza or wars in the middle east, and it thereby becomes so simple to just put it all to the side and get on with life.  But what about the people there? What about the people whose sisters have been killed, whose children have been murdered, what of them?  How can they get on with life?

A film like this can really remind us of the brutality of war.  But, more importantly, it can remind us of the common humanity that we share.  It can remind us that together we can find hope where there is little of it.  We can find peace in times of chaos and love in the midst of hate.  

This is a truly beautiful story.  Go see it.
